Creation and major themes

From an aesthetic point of view is project a multidisciplinary seeking of profundity in European art. On the one hand, there is an exceptional piece of music Meyerowitz, full of significance and on the other hand, it is a work written by the creators themselves, using theater, dance, opera and new media.

The tragic destiny of the Colonel incapable of socially assuming his actions, torn between paternal love and submission to the rules of a racist community, and more particularly that of Bert, refers us of course to the story of Meyerowitz himself, to the anti-semitism of which he and his own were victims, and which have for ever marked the history of Europe. These memories carried by Meyerowitz (1913-1998) are memories we have in common and our societies are marked by these erring ways whose seeds are still present here and there. They send us back to the core of our human nature and to the courage we need to assume our most strict and fundamental right to move around freely. Stepping over the threshold of a café, a bakery, getting into a bus or a train, entering the house we have always lived in, or a place of entertainment, have not always been something simple : these actions remind each of us of the processes of inclusion/exclusion alternating in the past.

This work by Meyerowitz places in context the issues of fundamental rights of the individual and shows that free and democratic countries need to remain on their guard and react against all forms of discrimination. Cultural production and sharing are therefore a necessity for our societies.
